Loving this idea…..really so fascinated by the whole concept, the efficiency could just make the whole travel experience so much smoother, cut down turnaround times, searching for parking spaces, rental availabilities, just a whole bunch of ‘stuff’ that takes up time and energy which could be spent doing other things. hope it goes global quicksmart because it’s only just of the beginning since GoogleEarth turned up. By the way, how good is GoogleEarth??!! C’mon, let’s not get complacent here, it’s pretty unbelievable…Anyway, Orbitz have designed an application that allows, actually, encourages, users to tell one another about flight and transport delays, travel shortcuts, internet cafe’s and wifi spots, cheap-cheap parking and other bit’s and pieces. Orbitz will also be handing out incentives by rating users based on how useful their recommendations, how often they provide info etc etc……check it…

Whoa!……this guy really has some talent…..there is so much energy in his paintings, especially the jazz and guitar series, you can just feel the boiling intensity, passion and rawness of Harlem and Brooklyn coming straight off the canvas….. his use of warm tones, his choice of characters, the background scenery, and what I love most is the way he captures movement which reminds me so much of the work that Ernie Barnes did for the Marvin Gaye ‘I Want You’ album, and even has hints of George Bellows……check him out……
This, my friends, this, truly has some WOW factor going on……..I’m not sure how it will all work out once your actually looking at it up close and personal, but for concept’s sake, it’s pretty unbelievable. I mean, think about, a skyscraper where each individul floor turns by itself depending on the force of wind hitting the building…It’s almost too absurd to even think about. The chief architect responsible, David Fischer, has managed to intergrate the idea of motion dynamics into the building, where pre-fabricated units will be worked in with forty-eight wind turbines fitted between each rotating floors as well as solar panels positioned on the roof of the building which will produce energy from wind and the sunlight, with no pollution……..Craaaaazzy? Absolutely! Curious? Absolutely!!………
Wow, what a relief…….I mean, you start to wonder for a minute, but then someone who you thought had dropped off the face decides to come back and release a new album and in the process lets the whole HipHop industry know about what a emcee/rapper really is all about…….. The metaphors, the style, the rhythm, the ability to create and maintain a distinct voice for over a decade….Pharoahe Monch is a true pioneer, such a gifted poetic writer of reckless talents….. he’s been working with the late J Dilla and also ghost-writing songs for Puff Daddy ( yikes, what a contrast!) whilst enjoying his hiatus, and his new album Desire really shouldn’t have taken 8 years to come out, but it’s damn well worth it….
Perhaps I speak for myself here ( then again, maybe I don’t) when I say that the idea of going away for two weeks to lie on a beach in the middle of nowhere would be exciting for about, i dunno, 6 hours, until the urge makes you simply say to yourself ‘man, can’t we go jet-skiing or somethin’, i mean, anything, just not lie here the whole time drinking beer and eat shrimp cocktails non-stop’. But wouldn’t it be a nice (or should i say ‘nicer’) change to get back from holiday totally revved up because your senses and the sheer adrenalin of the trip brought back all the passion in your life that was gettin’ killed by overworking…..just a thought…anyway, found out about this company, Black Tomato, that specialises in ‘exceptional travel experiences’ for those looking for a little extra SHAZAMMM! during their break…….definitely worth enquiring about…..
What, are we actually gonna talk about phones OTHER than the i-Phone….!?? Well, we should, because we can’t all be walking around in 12 months with the same phone wordlwide, why, I dunno, but we just can’t…. And I ain’t even hating on Apple, because to me they continue to push themselves and everyone else to new levels, new adventures in industrial discovery that really probably inspires more people outside the tech business than those within it, but back to the point. The LG-K850 is dynamite, both in function and form, and was designed by Italian fashion house Prada, who not only had input on the design but also on key elements of the user interface, including the touch screen interface, ring tones and pre-loaded content, and also contains a memory card slot….. not sure if it’s gonna pull heads away from the i-Phone, but it’s nice to know people aren’t just gonna leave the game because Apple changed the way it’s played………
When thinking about photography for a hot second, the work of Robert Frank is right up there with the best of them. Just such a vibrant realism to his pictures, yet they seem almost gothic as well….such a wonderful mood comes off his images. Anyway, a book has just recently been released documenting the whole process that went into create the film Me and My Brother which starred Christopher Walken (respect!) and was written by Sam Shepard, Allen Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky and Robert Frank himself, all of which appears in full in the book. The book is really quite something. The hand-trimmed photographs are a wonderful touch……
if you’re an Argentinian billionaire and you’re thinking about setting up a boutique hotel the first thing ya gotta think of might be something like – ‘who is gonna design the whole thing in a way that makes it go KABOOM! ‘ ……as soon as you pull up to the entrance, you know this ain’t no ordinary hotel that senators stay in, but rather for those with a little extra sugar and spice. So then you take a look at the possible list of designers, and Phillipe Starck’s name is on there somewhere, so you give him a ring, he say’s he’s up for it, works frenetically, and once again turns out another tremendous set of interiors that makes you think to yourself ‘ i gotta stop saying wow everytime i look at this thing…’. Imagine just sitting in on design meetings with Starck and his crew – the creative energy must be nuts……..
Boy oh boy, what can we say here to really try and encapsulate the actual mind-blowing quality of this idea. I mean, this thing will surely get funded by Google/Apple/Microsoft/Yahoo whenever they decide to sit down and make this thing happen. Definitely one of the most exciting pieces of technology I’ve seen in a long long time…..Photosynth is basically a photo-mapping software that links the common elements of images taken from, say, Flickr or any other image-sharing portal. Anyway (and here’s where it gets seriously buckwild) Photosynth builds 3-D interactive models of those photos’ subjects frame by frame (!), goes about merging thousands of random individuals’ photos, and then recreates landscapes, buildings, cars, coke bottles etc etc. Make sense? Didn’t think so. At this point, no one knows what the potential could be, but it could lead to a so-called “metaverse,” a wonderfully detailed representation of every interesting place on earth…….i know, sounds jokes doesn’t it?…… Just check this for yourself, and watch for your jaw to drop…….
I remember having a burning curiosity way down about what it’d be like to jump on a ship and travel around the world via sea, just fishing or even just being on a cargo ship and stopping off at some random exotic port like Buenos Aires, have a few drinks with the locals, drop some lyrics to some fine ladies, then off again to the next stop, like Panama , just living a life of adventure and long hours, taking photos and feeling the energy of nature running through ya veins, really living with your senses fully charged……….this might sound a touch romantic, but i guess what’s the alternative?…. alot of the time what society defines as living isn’t really living, as if life is what happens outside the 9-5….. ? well, folks, this is living right here…….these images are fantastic……check it….
